I must say that I am a bit tired this morning. After four hours of sleep the night before and most of the day in Hong Kong walking the city, I feel a bit weak. It may of course have something to do with the fact that I have not eaten in thirty-six hours.

Hong Kong was very enjoyable. I went to Kowloon Park, which is on the southern tip of the mainland, then to Hong Kong Island and up to the peak that gave a bird’s eye view of the surrounding area. On the ferry over to the island, I meet Jaime. She was in the city for business and so we spent the day together walking around the shops and just talking. She now works in marketing for Adidas but does not know any more about the corporate world and thinks she would rather become a professional beach volleyball player instead. She has the build for it, being six feet tall and in good shape.

Today I had thought of going back to Spacelabs and working for another year, then doing some months of travel again. I have no doubt that the situation would be accepted by them… but after a few seconds more on the thought, the fact of the matter is not about just touring around the world, but about something much greater.

Early tomorrow we arrive in Singapore so I will sleep a little tonight. Then it is about fifteen days until the next port, but I will be seeing areas I never or only dreamed of last year and before. To quote John Voight from the movie Deliverance, “Night has fallen and there is nothing that we can do about it”… and so it is here as well.
