I have been going over my French for the next port, which will be Le Havre; we should arrive in about fifteen days.

A question is to be asked; is it more right to help the poor and destitute or to take care of family members who have a large house, retirement, social security and a savings account? It may be more beneficial to helping the family by not helping them. They have made a life by placing their security in the world and as they age and are no longer able to maintain what they have; they slowly have to get rid of their possessions. Then they may realize that they were all unneeded in the first place.

Is it out of meanness or is it out of love? I would think to myself, love, although it will be a hard lesson learned. Yet if I help them, I too will remain in the lap of luxury and all the injustice that comes along with it. Yet to do something out of love leads not to injustice.

Our worst weather was had today. We had what must have been at least thirty-knot winds and some heavy rain. I saw the rain coming from my deck near the stern so I decided to make it to the bow before we meet it coming on us. Needless to say, I got a good soaking but it is not everyone who rides out a storm on the bow of a ship in the Indian Ocean.

For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. It is not for me to provide unto man a glimpse of the divine. He must do it for himself and yet the kingdom of God maybe brought down to this earth by me by having that of pure love for my fellow man. Yet when I have purified my heart and walk upon the path and am born again, that which is better than I shall appear and be a testament unto itself.
